The ketogenic diet is a low carb program that works. A few months ago, I went to see my own integrative and functional medicine practitioner to have her run a comprehensive blood panel on me. I try to get blood work done about every three months, and I’m always looking for new ways to improve my physical health through tweaking my diet and exercise programs.

After my results were in, I was told I have a high LDL-P level of around 1700.  Studies have shown that individuals with similar results to mine may benefit from carbohydrate restriction. I know that I eat too many carbs. I often find myself snacking on the same foods that my 3-year-old twins enjoy. As a busy, working parent, I am sometimes too exhausted to cook and eat healthy food.

To improve my LDL-P levels I committed myself to a low carb plan. As I did my research I read about the popular ketogenic diet, and I decided to give it a try.

I watched the documentary “The Magic Pill”. I highly recommend this documentary as an intro to the ketogenic diet. While it lacks clinical information, it did get me excited about the diet.

I started with a basic ketogenic food plan, and it didn’t take long for me to notice a huge difference in the way I looked and felt. I noticed differences in my energy level and physique, even my libido got a nice boost.

Last month after a few weeks on the plan I discovered Dr. Sara Hall’s “Grand Rounds” discussion in the IFM newsletter and bam, there was the proof that the ketogenic diet works. Please click the link below to watch her video.

The ketogenic diet has made a difference in my life, and I just wanted to share. You already know how beneficial it can be to offer a nutritional program to your patients. I would like to hear back from those of you who champion or disagree with the ketogenic plan. You can reach me at my email below with your comments.

Enjoy,
